RDA5807FP Broadcast FM Radio Tuner IC SOP-16 is a single-chip broadcast FM stereo radio tuner that integrates the complete tuner function, including the synthesizer, IF selectivity, and MPX decoder. This highly integrated IC leverages a powerful digital low-IF architecture, which eliminates the need for external filters and manual alignment during production. Consequently, manufacturers can significantly reduce the overall bill of materials (BOM) and assembly time for consumer electronics. The RDA5807FP supports the worldwide frequency band (50 MHz to 115 MHz) and includes advanced features such as soft mute, adaptive noise cancellation, and an integrated RDS/RBDS processor. Furthermore, its low power consumption and high sensitivity make it a perfect choice for portable devices where battery life and signal reception are critical. Therefore, you should choose this IC to achieve high-quality FM audio with a compact and cost-effective circuit design.
Key Features:
- High Integration: The chip minimizes external component requirements by integrating the voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), low-noise amplifier (LNA), and frequency synthesizer on a single die.
- Flexible Interface: Users can control the device via a standard I²C serial bus, allowing for easy adjustment of frequency, volume, and processing parameters.
- Global Frequency Support: It covers a wide frequency range from 50 MHz up to 115 MHz, supporting worldwide FM bands including the Japanese band.
- Digital Processing: The IC uses digital signal processing (DSP) for excellent audio quality, automatic frequency control (AFC), and digital auto-gain control (AGC).
- Integrated RDS/RBDS: It features a dedicated Radio Data System processor that decodes station information, song titles, and time data automatically.

Though the datasheet specifies I2C control using an MCU, this chip maybe operated in stand-alone mode (if desired) by connecting pin 6 to Vdd. If this is done, the operation becomes similar to RDA7088 that is, pins 7, 8 are used for tuning and pins 15, 16 for volume.
Very good stereo reception with small antenna, 5 stars !!
